Welcome to the first Law Module of your DASW course. You will learn about the English Legal system and the different legal frameworks within which social work operates, and how social workers can use legislation positively to support the people we work with. Each teaching session will cover the   specific duties, powers and responsibilities which legislation provides.  There will be a focus on promoting rights, empowerment, and the anti-oppressive use of legislation within social work practice. As you will learn during this module, although there is a perception that the law is black and white, this is not always the case in practice, and we will briefly explore how those grey areas can be navigated within the legal framework.
