All staff who purchase, store, handle and/or dispose of chemicals in the workplace.
Description
The course is aimed at all staff and students who use stepladders, kick stools or ladders indoors to perform low risk activities whilst working at relative low heights (typically less than 2.0 m).
It is not designed for those staff and students who undertake outdoor working at height or working from height for long periods of time, where a face-to-face training session must be completed (contact the H&S team for further information).
Note – all working at height must be suitably risk assessed.
The pass mark for the quiz is 90%.

This SLS/WMS Waste Management and Safety at Gibbet Hill course covers the processes, procedures and decision-making in purchasing and using materials for the laboratory. The course covers good decision choices that will manage, reduce waste and increase the safety of users.
This course is intended for all staff and students who work within laboratories and conduct day to day operations.
Learning areas of understanding:
- Legal obligations
- Decision-making for laboratory reduction of the waste, considering materials purchased and their safe use.
- University and laboratory, materials storage and safety factors.
- Disposal of waste, deactivation methods; autoclaving and chemical.
- Internal and external transportation considerations.

use Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems. It will provide you with an
awareness of what LEV systems are and why they are important. Guide you through
what they do and do not protect against, what basic user checks should be
carried out and how to set up and how to leave your LEV system.
This course is for any Principal Investigator (PI) involved in making compatibility decisions and inputting them into the LabCup inventory system
This course is mandatory for all staff and students who wish to use the LabCup inventory system.
