This module aims to cover the basics of clean room technologies and device fabrication. The specifics of diamond processing will be addressed, with a particular emphasis on cleanroom processes, surface and subsurface modification, and nanopatterning. We
will study their application to devices produced in the literature and discuss the limitations of diamond-based processing.
- Raman characterisation of carbon materials
- X-ray diffraction of diamond

X-ray Photoemission Spectroscopy (XPS)
- 50 % Examination (1 hour 30 minutes)
- 25 % Written report on one of the Practical Sessions
- 25 % Oral examination on one of the Practical Sessions
